Someone else is coming
A helper or a sub will be at the door, not you — or not only you. Say who, and that they can still text you. This is not a cancellation.
Use a generic first name for the other person. It is a stand-in.
A helper with you
You’re still coming. There’s just another pair of hands.
A helper is coming with me on Tuesday. I’ll be there too. They’re extra hands, not a different person taking over.
They can wait for you instead
Give them a way to refuse the sub without a calendar menu.
I have to send someone in my place on Friday. Their name is Chris. If you’d rather wait for me, say so and we’ll skip Friday.
